Oldtimer Grandprix at the Nurburgring
It's the first weekend in August and that means.....The Nurburgring Classic Car Races! Here is a short impression from what you can expect to see there.
And here is some proof that our SD1 ignition can't be all that bad. Isn't this the ignition module that can also be found on our Rover's??? Well here you see one in a racing application. Note how well it is insulated from vibrations.
So is this why racing cars are started by separate batteries....The dynamo is not driven from the crankshaft but from the drive shaft.....fortunately they don't idle that long....and no power windows or airconditioning either...
As a Rover/Buick V8 freak I was looking for a Repco-Brabham V8 off course. Strolling along the pits I found not a single one... maybe better luck next year.... However, there is enough exotic machinery around to make your mouth water.
Graham Hill used to race this racer....however not with these set of wheels I think!! By the looks of it they come from a motorcycle and have been skilfully adapted to make the racer fit into the car-trailer
